Day 13
We got on the road about 7:30am. It was sad to leave the hospitality but good to be on the road again. There was a heavy mist and it was 52, a bit nippley but not too bad. As we went farther inland and higher up into the cascades the mist burned away to a beautiful blue sky and warmer temps.
While stopped for a break we spied Sackscratch and finally managed to get a pic of him
The route through the Cascades wound up along the south fork of the Skykomish River, and past Bridal Falls
After crossing the Cascades we went to the Grand Coulee Dam
There are some dry river beds in eastern Washington from a coupe hunert thousand years ago, and the road runs through them
There were some interesting formations in the cliffs
It was our intent to get to Kalispel by the end of the day because we wanted to go through Glacier one more time. We ended up driving till about 11pm cause we couldn’t find any place to stay; until at last we found a place with a vacancy (i figure it was cause of the rates). The night drive was beautiful but very nerve wracking because of all the larger than us critters out and about. Boy was I glad for the new Stebel air horn I put on the bike – just a toot from it and the deer beat feet.
So the stats for day 13 – Left Everett @ 7:30 pst and arrived in Kalispel 11pm mst for a days total miles of 544 and trip mileage of 4274
I’m tired – see younzers later.
