Day 5

Ok so its been a couple of days since the last post. There was this thing with too much sun screen in the eyes (mmm that was yesterdays excuse) and a bottle of peanut no ears that had my name on it (mmmm that would be now – day 6). The only thing I had the desire to do was call my darling bride to let her know I was still alive and missing her like a ground hog misses its hole. To paraphrase Tah Mahal (if you don’t know who he is – shame on you – go find out) ………And I really do love her, She’s my baby, she’s my sweetie, she’s my lover, she’s my pal, but you know now i’m just crazy about that woman – she’s my big kneed gal. And then the tubas come in…………(OK she don’t have big knees but it still works.)

So lets see what have we done.

Oh yea day 5

We left Rawlings about 10:30 local time. Headed north on 2 eighty somthin. We stopped for fuel at a left turn in the road and talked with the lady who ran the place and asked, if with all these incredible views, if she ever just took them for granted since I live in one of the most beautiful places in PA and I find that sometimes I take the views for granted.  She said no. She had this on the wall and said her grandfather was from Norway and he would have appreciated this – we did – so we took a picture:

cowasocki

For those not paying attention thus far I am riding a cowasaki; vulcan; nomad.

A little while later we came to Split Rock. After sitting in the saddle all this time these rocks were just beggin to be climbed around on – and we complied. It was time for the morning Vespers.

There was this tree growing in the middle of the rocks that look like a large comical size bonzai – all this motion in all these motionless rocks, the Yin Yang was just so YinYang:

Study in Color

Couldn’t resist putting the sepia to it – after a couple of days around here in the sun and the old west it just seemed appropriate. (this is my desktop now)

Here is a view through it onto the horizon from whence we came.

Horizon

Most of the afternoon was more great scenery. Due to some technical difficulties we didn’t get a whole lot of pics. Although we did get these as we came down into Dubois, Wyoming. (we got a room here for a couple nights at the Stagecoach Inn – it is without a doubt the best place we’ve stayed so far. The folks that run the place treat you like old friends, the water out of the tap is ice cold – for those end of ride head dunks in the sink, there are great places to eat nearby, there was a place to wash my bike, and even though there was no AC in the room all we had to do was open the windows on both side of the room and we had a mountain breeze blowing cool. Its also a great base for doing day trips of some of the surrounding roads).

We got to the Motel about 4:30 in the pm. Don’t know how many miles it was and Steve is down doing laundry right now (he is the statistics dood, and the gps route programmer) and you may remember the bottle of Peanut no Ears (which would explain my indifference).

So the statistics will have to wait. Sue Me.

    Bernie-

I truly appreciate the tribute- I don’t know what to say, particularly when everyone else can read it. I’ll save it for the calls. You are truly my motorcycle man.

    Love,
    Kate.
