So after a good nights rest at the Greenville Super 8 we were up and at em at 6am. After the Complimentary Continental Breakfast,\u00a0 showers, and packing we\u00a0 were back on the road\u00a0 @ 8am cst.\u00a0 If your traveling through\u00a0 Illinois and find yourself in Greenville – we give the place a big thumbs up. Family owned and very nice folks. Let us park the bikes right in front of the door under the overhang so they would stay dry and the hostess could keep an eye on em. (and the AC in the room could be set to deep freeze)<\/p>\n

The day started out cloudy and soupy looking but we lucked out and had no real rain till the last couple miles of the day. It was mostly SUNNY. (as in Lobster Like). Mid morning\u00a0 we got slowed down for about 45 minutes cause of an accident that put the interstate to a slower than first gear crawl.\u00a0 A decided disadvantage with the water cooled bike as the fan would come on and blow the HOT air right up between someones already hot and sun kissed legs. I don’t think we need to go into details.<\/p>\n

We stopped for lunch west of Kansas City at an eat till you puke pizza place. Talked to a couple guys about the trip so far and the ride from there to Denver. They said once you got past Topeka the traffic would be crawling up your butt if you were only going 80. Well there weren’t hardly any traffic and we kept up a steady 75 – 80 for 400+ miles.\u00a0 When we were finished eating Steve just broke into the Macarena right there on the sidewalk:<\/p>\n

As you can see the large comical size sun screen proved to be a good prop. Too much ain’t enough.<\/p>\n

Exits and gas stations are few and far between in central Kansas. Good thing the Zumo GPS has a button to push to show the closest gas stations.\u00a0 Although we began to wonder sometimes:<\/p>\n

There weren’t no yellow bricks anywhere……and we were still<\/em> in Kansas, Toto.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure why but there are more adult stores (nudge nudge nowhutimean) along I70 than gas stations, or people even. We’re talkin wheat fields as far as you can see in all directions for miles<\/em>. No gas but more temptation than you could swing a stick (or whatever) at.\u00a0 Go figure.<\/p>\n

Anyway we made it to Goodland, Kansas @ 8:45pm mst for the night. That would bring the days mileage to 717.\u00a0 For a total so far of 1330 miles. Tomorrow we expect to see and be in mountains by noon. At that point we are going slow down and enjoy the scenery. Flying through space at 80 mph with the breeze blowin twixt your ears\u00a0 is only fun for so long.<\/p>\n

A couple of gripes we have so far:<\/p>\n

1) One of the bikes (the 1500) only has a 120 mile range so we have to stop for fuel every hour and a half.\u00a0 Soon as my butt gets comfortable and nestled in the seat we gotta stop .<\/p>\n

2) Neither of us has a throttle lock – and after a day of holding the throttle open that ain’t cool. We intend to fix this tomorrow by finding a motorcycle shop and gettin a couple.<\/p>\n
